SUBJECT: 2008 University Awards for Faculty, Staff, Students, and Alumni
I am pleased to announce the launch of the annual University Awards process. I encourage you to acknowledge the work of AU faculty, staff, students, and alumni whose contributions to AU have been exceptional by nominating them for a university award.
Periodically, we review the awards process and make adjustments to reflect the times. This year, for example, the deadlines for student awards have been combined into one common deadline (Wednesday, March 19); the instructions for nomination forms have been simplified; and MS Word versions of the forms are now available (in addition to the PDF versions), enabling forms to be saved electronically.
As a reminder, each award is accompanied by a cash prize, ranging from $250 (for student awards) to $5,000 (for faculty awards). Award amounts are:
- $250 to $1,000 for student awards;
- $750 for staff awards (not to exceed $5,000 for a group award); and
- $2,000 to $5,000 for faculty awards.
The strides American University has made in recent years are the result of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence exhibited by so many. Please help us to acknowledge those who have been instrumental in making this a better place to learn, work, and live.
