May 13 - Congratulations to the new ITEP graduates!

April 28 - May 11- A team of 12 ITEP students and 2 faculty traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina to conduct a school improvement assessment in cooperation with UNICEF and Bosnian local NGOs and schools. The group assessed the expansion of the school improvement network throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and presetned their findings to UNICEF and Step by Step in the form of a final presentation and a full written report.

April 2007

Congratulations! - Congratulations to ITEP's two 2007 Presidential Management Fellows, Brian Daniels and Jessica O'Connor. The U.S. Government's Office of Personnel Management describes the Presidential Management Fellows Program as "a stepping stone to highly visible and respected leadership positions in the federal government." This two-year full-time fellowship is a leadership development program designed to groom recent graduates for careers in federal service. The fellowship includes 80 hours of training a year, rotations with different government agencies, and accelerated promotions. Students interested in pursuing a Presidential Management Fellowship should follow up with the AU Career Center and attend one of the information sessions they hold throughout the year.

April 17 - On Tuesday, April 17, from 3:30-4:30pm, Mr. He Huang, Principal of Xingzhi School in Beijing, People's Republic of China, will be visiting AU to discuss Challenges and Trends in International Education. The location is yet to be determined.

March 2007

March 26, 28, 29 - Mandatory ITEP group advising sessions from 5:30-6:45pm in Bentley Conference Room, Gray Hall.

March 20 - On Tuesday, March 20, from 5:30-8:00pm in the Batelle-Thompkins Atrium, Jane Vella is coming to AU to speak about Dialogue Education. Read more about Jane Vella's experiences at http://www.globalearning.com/janevella.htm

March 7 - On Wednesday, March 7th from 12:00-1:00pm in Bentley Lounge, Gray Hall, Nancy Fearheiley will speak on careers in exchange programming. Fearheiley is currently a Program Officer for the International Visitor Leadership Program at Meridian International Center.

February 26 - On Monday, February 26, from 4:00-5:30pm in the SIS Lounge, the International Communication Student Forum is sponsoring a Professional Panel on International Exchange. February 2 - On Friday, February 2, ITEP will be hosting a Crazy Hat Happy Hour. Come join the ITEP program for a social and networking happy hour to learn more about the program, meet ITEP students and faculty, and win a prize for best hat. Categories include craziest, most international, least practical, best themed, and funniest hat. The location will be at The Science Club (www.scienceclubdc.com) which is at 1136 19th St, NW. Take the Red line metro to Dupont Circle. Exit on the south side (19th). Walk 2 1/2 blocks with traffic on 19th Street then cross the street to the Science Club. We'll be there from 6-8pm and appetizers will be provided. Feel free to bring friends, spouses, and people interested in the program.

January 2007

January 25 - On Thursday, January 25th at noon in the Gray Hall Conference Room there will be an info session about the AED Development Fellows Program. The program coordinator, Suzanne Dadzie, will speak about two opportunities for the spring. The AED Development Fellows Program is an education abroad program for highly motivated and mature US graduate and undergraduate students who are interested in contributing to the work of established development assistance projects.
