Minor in Health Promotion

Students can earn an Minor in Health Promotion to connect their interest in the health-related fields and social sciences. These courses serve as a solid foundation for students who intend to pursue graduate studies in the related fields or who wish to explore career opportunities in health promotion.

How to Apply

  • Print out and complete the Declaration of Minor form
  • Bring the form to the School of Education, Teaching, & Health office in Gray 119 for signed approval
  • Return the signed form to the CAS Academic Advising Office in Batelle-Tompkins 100 or fax the form to the Advising Office at (202) 885-1085

Degree Requirements

  • 24 credit hours with grade "C" or better (at least 12 credit hours need to be unique to the minor)

  • HFIT 200: Lifetime Health and Fitness
  • HFIT 205 (G): Current Concepts in Nurition 5:2
  • HFIT 240: Introduction to Health Promotion
  • HFIT 325: Exercise Physiology
  • HFIT 335: Health Promotion Program Planning

9 credit hours from the following (approved by a program advisor):

  • HFIT 250: Strategies in Stress Reduction
  • HFIT 270: First Aid, CPR, & Medical Emergencies
  • HFIT 323: Issues in Women's Health
  • HFIT 410: Health Promotion Evaluation
  • HFIT 540: Health Communication
