Minor in Health Promotion
Students can earn an Minor in Health Promotion to connect their interest in the health-related fields and social sciences. These courses serve as a solid foundation for students who intend to pursue graduate studies in the related fields or who wish to explore career opportunities in health promotion.
How to Apply
- Print out and complete the Declaration of Minor form
- Bring the form to the School of Education, Teaching, & Health office in Gray 119 for signed approval
- Return the signed form to the CAS Academic Advising Office in Batelle-Tompkins 100 or fax the form to the Advising Office at (202) 885-1085
Degree Requirements
- 24 credit hours with grade "C" or better (at least 12 credit hours need to be unique to the minor)
Required Core Courses (18 credits):
- HFIT 200: Lifetime Health and Fitness
- HFIT 205 (G): Current Concepts in Nurition 5:2
- HFIT 240: Introduction to Health Promotion
- HFIT 325: Exercise Physiology
- HFIT 335: Health Promotion Program Planning
9 credit hours from the following (approved by a program advisor):
- HFIT 250: Strategies in Stress Reduction
- HFIT 270: First Aid, CPR, & Medical Emergencies
- HFIT 323: Issues in Women's Health
- HFIT 410: Health Promotion Evaluation
- HFIT 540: Health Communication
