Welcome to American University’s Web site on academic integrity--a core principle that underpins how we live and learn in a community of inquiry.  What exactly does academic integrity mean?  Click here for an explanation.

The information on this site is for both students and faculty.

Students will find resources for learning more about the Academic Integrity Code, definitions of academic dishonesty, and how to avoid plagiarism—just to give a few examples.

Faculty will find resources for promoting academic integrity and strategies for preventing and detecting dishonesty (including how to search online for plagiarism).

As well, there are adjudication materials, academic integrity quizzes, news and statistics from AU and across the nation, and frequently asked questions ( FAQ).

We gratefully make reference here to many excellent Web sites, articles and materials on this topic.  We hope you find this Web resource helpful in understanding more about academic integrity.  Please send us your comments.
*Please note that the Washington College of Law operates under its own Honor Code.
