The Peace Corps Nigeria Alumni Foundation (PCNAF) is a non-profit organization formed by a group of former Peace Corps Volunteers who served in Nigeria. The organization is dedicated to assisting in Nigeria's development efforts through education for female students. In an effort to raise funds for its new scholarship program, PCNAF is currently collecting used cell phones, and will receive a donation payment for each phone collected. You can support girls' education in Nigeria by donating your used cell phone(s). Please call James Helms at 202-885-6203 or helms@american.edu for pick up. [ Click here for a downloadable flyer]

For the Staff Council to play an active and informed role in the development of a University Strategic Plan, the Staff Council will need feedback and comments from the University staff. At this initial stage, this consists of: 1) a discussion at our February 5, 2008, meeting, in the Butler Conference Room, 11:30am-1:00pm, and 2) accepting comments/questions to the Staff Council Chair, Aaron Tobler, at scchair@american.edu (your personal information will be confidential).
While any and all comments, questions or concerns are important and appreciated, we are particularly interested in any broad themes you feel are important for an upcoming Strategic Plan. Such themes may revolve around employee development and/or prospective employee outreach and/or another set of issues.
The Staff Council's regularly scheduled meeting on February 5, 2008, will discuss the Council's formulating some basic themes. The Council will then take these themes and present them to President Kerwin in an effort to truly open a dialogue of Staff's role and input in the Plan's creation.
From inauguration website:
Events celebrating the presidential inauguration will begin February 4 and conclude February 8. Events early in the week will focus upon AU’s accomplishments in the following areas:

We are working with The International Student Leadership Team on a very exciting project, and need to collect recipes from around the world, including the US regions. We will try to get it done by the AU International Week celebrations in April. The proceedings of this book will go to the ISSS International Student Emergency Fund.
We are trying to compile the recipes in their original version. However, if there is an ingredient that only exists in the country of origin, perhaps we can think of a US substitute for that ingredient.
Attached is a sample recipe just for the format. If possible, please include a picture of your own recipe. Internet copy might be a problem for copyright protection.
Also, perhaps you can include a few words about the special event when this particular dish is made in that culture. For example, is it a festive food, end of feast, religious holiday etc.
You can email the recipe to cookbook@american.edu. Please include your name, extension and the country of origin for the recipe. If you have any questions, please call or email Senem Bakar at X3352 and sbakar@american.edu. [ Sample Recipe]
