The following over-arching goals for the AU community have been set for planning purposes for the academic year. To support our fundamental teaching, scholarship, and service work, we also will embark on the vital effort to begin to establish priorities for a new strategic plan for American University and to define a process that will be participatory and inclusive.

CAMPAIGN - Renew our emphasis on completing the Campaign for AnewAU.

RETENTION - Launch a campus-wide retention effort, with particular focus on early identification, effective intervention and strong student-centeredness in all administrative services.

COMMUNICATIONS/TECHNOLOGY - Reconsider our university main messages and methods of communications outreach for target audiences and important constituencies, and complete the initial phase of the project to create a new Web presence for the University.

DIVERSITY - Strengthen our commitment to diversity in all elements of our campus community.

GLOBAL OUTREACH - Enhance our status as a premier global university by extending programs and opportunities for faculty, students, and staff.
