Welcome Weeks 2009 - August 18 to August 20

Discover DC is an opportunity for new AU students to learn about Washington DC's unique diversity by visiting various neighborhoods in the area and to consider the concept of civic engagement as it is lived by DC citizens. Domestic and International students will be placed in groups of 10-12 and will receive self-guided neighborhood tour information and metro passes good for each day. Students will also meet with at least one representative in each neighborhood who will speak with them about civic engagement and diversity in DC. A nominal charge covers some meals, metro fare for Wednesday and Thursday, and other program materials.

Students will be able to register for the Discover DC program when they register for New Student Orientation on the my.american.edu portal.
